Get Well Clipboard Card

I saw THIS card and thought it was so cute I just had to make my own version of it. I was making them for a swap and didn't have enough library clips so I thought I would do the clip part with punches.

I used the Decorative Label punch folded in half and the 1" circle with the 1/2" circle punched out of the middle. I used Newsprint DSP for the notebook paper and sponged the edges with So Saffron ink. The main card is 11" x 4 1/4" folded in half with the punched clip at the top, it will not fit in a regular card at this size with the clip at the top so you can make the main card smaller and it will. The card is made out of Crumb Cake card stock and sponged around the edges. The sentiment is from the Word Play stamp set and the rest I just wrote in with a marker. Here is a close up of the clip.

I think I must be in a medical mood with all that's happening with Ashley lately. For those of you who sent all the wonderful emails I thought I would let you know that we had our first 24 hours of sugar levels in target zones! I'm sure it will keep changing but we are pretty excited!

Doctor Thank You Card

I made this card to send as a thank you to the wonderful staff that helped us through my daughters ordeal at Yale Hospital. I really can not say enough about the doctors and nurses and staff there. They were wonderful and made an impossible situation
seem manageable.

I used Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler and Pacific Point card stock and the All in the Family, Family Business and Afterthoughts (hostess) stamps sets. For punches I used the Decorative Label, Modern Label and Word Window punches.

A Family Update

I just wanted to thank everyone who has sent their well wished for my daughter and our family. It means so much to me that there are such wonderful nice caring people out there like yourselves.

We are home from the hospital and Ashley is back at school today! She is not too happy about having to get her fingers pricked and take her insulin everyday but I'm sure as we go it will get easier. I will be in and out of school three times each day just to make the adjustment a little easier for her so days are going to fill up fast!
She is a little trooper and doing as good as you could possibly expect a five year old to be dealing with diabetes so that is all that I can ask for.
Here is her being her normal goofy self in the hospital while we are desperately trying to get her to eat the right amount of carbs!

Family Emergency

I just wanted to let you know that there might be a delay in new postings this week. We are in the hospital with my five year old daughter, Ashley, who has just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. We are getting her blood sugar under control and stabilized and hope to be out soon! We caught it early before any damage was done so we are staying hopeful to manage it quickly.

Check back later this week for some new projects! If you have purchased projects and have any problems or questions I will try to get back to you as soon as possible, please bear with the delay!

If anyone has gone through this diagnosis with a small child any advice is more then welcome! All of the necessary insulin shots and finger pricks are pretty tough. Thanks!

Haunted House Purse & Cards

Here is my Haunted House Purse & Cards Project! These cards would be great to send as Halloween cards or invitations to a Halloween Party! The purse would be perfect to carry the invitations into school to hand out or as a great Halloween decoration!
You could even change the colors and make these into adorable doll house cards with a matching purse for a little girl!
The cards are 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and will fit in the standard medium envelopes. The purse is approximately 7 1/2" tall x 6 1/2" wide x 3" deep and will fit the cards and envelopes inside.

Hello Kitty Christmas!

Here is my Hello Kitty all dressed up for Christmas. I told you that you might see a few more of these cats!

I used the Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper for the background and I sponged the edges with Crumb cake ink and used the Peaceful Season stamp set for the sentiment.

Here is how I made her:
For the dress I used the wide oval punch and just trimmed the sides down at an angle. I then used the 1/2" circle punch for the neckline of the dress.


I put the head on top with a dimensional and used the small oval punch cut in half with a slit in the bottom for the shoes.


I used the holly from the Deck the Halls DSP for her bow and popped it up in two layers. The sleeves are the small oval with the end punched with the scallop edge punch to make the end of the sleeves decorative. The holly on the main card uses the large oval punch, punched out with the 1/2" circle punch on both sides.

Hello Kitty Punch Art

I had a request to make a punch art Hello Kitty, so here she is! My daughter is obsessed with this little cat so you might see a few more of these!

Here is how I made her:

These directions are for my first Hello Kitty that I made. Then I will tell you the modifications for the one that is on the card.
Using the small oval punch I punched out two white and two regal Rose shapes for the arms. I cut the ends off of the rose ones and glued them on top of the whites.


I then punched a wide oval regal Rose shape. I put it back into the wide oval punch in the opposite direction and punched the bottom off. Then I used the small oval shape to make the neck part. I glued this on top of a white wide oval and then punched the bottom off just below the rose.


I cut a small slice in the bottom to make the two separate feet and rounded the edges. I glued the arms on the back.


The head is punched with the wide oval punch. The ears are the larger side of the butterfly sticking out the top of the head. I did cut a small amount off the inside of the butterfly wings where the arrows are just to make the ears a little bit pointier.


Her whiskers are using the slot punch (which is retired) or you could just cut little slits out of black paper. The bow is the large hole on the owl punch for the two outside pieces and the center circle is the middle size circle on the owl punch. I used a scissors to cut the edges of the outside circles down a bit. Her head is on with a dimensional. Her features are drawn on with markers.

After doing the first one I made a few adjustments. Here I used the 1 3/4" circle punch to round the edges of the head (still with a wide oval punch) so that it was not so wide. I cut the slot punch shapes in half to make the whiskers a little bit skinnier. I also used the 3/4" circle punch with the sides slimmed down a bit to make the front leg out like she is running. I used the Sahara Sand marker for all of the shading.

Chef in the Kitchen Pop-Out Cards

Here are my Chef in the Kitchen Pop-Out Cards! The chefs are made using punches and when you open the cards, the kitchen appliances pop open!
I thought these cards would be great for anyone who likes to cook. They could also be used as invitations to a dinner party or any event where food is involved. The chefs would be great for cooking scrapbook pages also! You can change the stamp set and colors to make them suit your situation.

Mini Card Swap

I went to a mini gathering of Demonstrators over the weekend and got these great swaps and make-n-takes!

These two make-n-takes were designed by Shanti McKenna. The first is a slider card using two pennies and Dimensionals. The long slot is punched using the word window punch.

Halloween Spooky Eyeball Invite

Here is my Spooky Eyeball card! I think this would be great to use for a Halloween party invite or card and its really easy to make!

I used my circle cutter and cut two 3 3/4" circles in white card stock. I scored one circle close to the top and glued that to the other card so the card can open without having a flat part for the fold. I then used the 1 3/4" circle punch in Marina Mist and the 3/4" circle punch in black for the inside parts of the eye. I drew the red lines with the Red Riding Hood marker and the inner darker blue part with the Marina Mist marker.

Here are the two pieces to show you the scored circle that makes it open once you glue it together.

All in the Family - Get Well Soon

I made this card for my girlfriend who got in a car accident recently and can't seem to get better! I used the All in the Family stamp set as well as the new Family Business set. I love these little family sets! You can make so many different themed cards out of them and they are so cute!

I also used the Woodland Walk DSP for the background, Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon, the Word Window punch and Modern Label Punch. The sentiment is from the Word Play stamp set.

Season of Apple Picking

I had the pleasure of getting to be a chaperon on my daughters kindergarten field trip today! We went to the apple orchard and picked apples, had cider donuts and went on a tractor ride. I made this card to send as a thank you to her teacher for organizing such a nice trip for all the kids and adults.

I used the Season of Friendship stamp set and then used the Owl Punch to punch out the apples for the tree. For the sentiment I used the Decorative Label Punch and the Large Oval punch.

Halloween Treat Box Gift

My in-laws have been away on vacation for a week so the kids and I made them black licorice caramel candy as a treat for when they got back today. Of course what is a present of candy without a great container and card!?

I used my TWO CUPCAKE BOX template to make the box and then used my Top Note Frame Technique for the card! I also used the new Northern Frost Decorative Strip and the Big Shot to make the spiders. That's right, I used the snowflake die to make the spiders legs and then punched out circles to go over the center parts for the bodies!
