Punch Art Cooked Turkey

I have been doing a few punch art turkeys so I thought I would do a cooked one to add to the collection! I used the Bird, Owl and Modern Label punches to make this turkey and serving platter.

I used the Holiday Best stamp set in Soft Suede ink for the sentiment punched out of Very Vanilla paper with the large oval punch. I then layered two more large ovals behind it on the top and bottom with dimensionals. I have that taped to a Decorative Label punched out in Crumb Cake card stock with Soft Suede labels on the top and bottom again with dimensionals. On the right side and bottom I used 5/8" Victoria Crochet Trim ribbon with 1/2" strips of Soft Suede paper behind it to make it really stand out.

Here is how I made my punch art turkey:

I used the Bird Punch in Soft Suede card stock and then trimmed off the head and the tail.

I used the bird wing and then the foot from the Owl Punch in Very Vanilla to make the turkey leg.

I used the Modern Label punch cut in half for the serving platter and a tiny bit of string on the turkey leg tied in a bow.

Paper Flower Turkey

I made this turkey out of SU's paper flowers just like I made my BIRD card before. Someday I might even use these flowers as flowers on a card!
I used the Decorative Label punch with the large oval punch for the sentiment which is from the Holiday Best stamp set. The background paper is Woodland Walk.

Here is how I made my turkey:

I used the Owl Punch in Chocolate chip card stock for the body of the turkey. Then I just cut from the sides of the body up to the inside of the ears.

I cut three petals out of the largest flower and sponged it with Chocolate chip ink. When you are sponging the flowers, do it gently or else the petals will rip off.

I cut three petals out of the second largest flower and sponged that with Cajun Craze ink.

I used Dimensionals to layer the flowers under the body after they dried.

I used the 3/4" Circle Punch for the head and the eyes are from the Owl Punch. I used the smallest size flower sponged with Cherry Cobbler ink for the little feathers on the top of the head and the gobble on the beak. I punched out Pumpkin pie feet and glued them over the brown ones. The nose is cut with scissors and popped up with a Dimensional.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just Believe Twisted Pyramid Card

My mother sent me an advertisement that she got that showed a picture of a card using this pyramid technique. The card example she sent me used a printed image but I figured you could do the same thing with stamps!
To make this card open like it does I ripped a Cherry cobbler paper to about 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I then cut my Very Vanilla card stock to 4" x 5 3/4". I scored it at 1/2" in from the long end so I could use Tombow and stick that down under to make the top fold.
To make the pyramid part of the card I made up a template to go by.

And here is how you do it!

Stamp your 3" x 3" or 4" x 4" card stock depending on the size template you are using. You will need at least two identical stamped papers but three makes it easier to cut out. Print out the squares template on plain computer paper.

Place the template over your paper lining up the largest square with the edges. Using a craft knife cut out the smallest center square. Place the template over the other stamped image and cut out the next largest square. You can keep going back and forth between the two images and cutting out the next largest shape. If you have three papers keep the last one for the largest paper. If you are using the template that overlaps the edges you will need all three squares to start.

You should have 5 squares that look like this once you are done cutting. If you had three to start with your largest will not have the center hole cut out of it and it will be easier to put together.

Now you just stack all the images on top of each other using Dimensionals to separate the layers. Line up the images to get the squares at the right angles. Before I put them together I used a Cherry Cobbler marker to go over the edges so the angles would pop out more.

If you make something good with this technique, send me a picture!
