Heart Flower Frame Card

Here is my card that I made using the Labels Collection Framelits . I love these new metal dies! While I was making the frame, I wanted the edge of the metal to show, so I sprayed my paper with alcohol before I put it through the Big Shot. This makes the outer edge of the metal die come out very pronounced, like you have embossed the center of the frame. The heart flower is from my other card I did that you can see at the bottom of this post.
I used the Everyday Enchantment DSP from Sale-a-Bration as well as the Elementary Elegance stamp set. I also used Loved Ones for the sentiment from the Occasions Mini.

I folded my card and cut my frame out of the inside of the card. Then I put a Very Vanilla piece of paper on the back of the card. This gives you a framed place to write on the inside of the card and you don't have to waste an extra paper to cut the frame out of!

Heart Flower Valentine Diabetes Tutorial

Here is my Heart Flower Valentine Tutorial!

Tasteful Trim Paper Roses Mini Tutorial - FREE!

Here is my Tasteful Trim Paper Roses Mini Tutorial! I saw a picture of flowers somewhere a long time ago made this way, and bought this die to make them. I never got around to it then, and when I sat down to do it, I couldn't find the other picture! So, I have come up with my own way to do this. I'm not sure if it is the same way as in the photo I saw a long time ago, but if it was you who came up with this idea, let me know and I will link you!
These are so simple to make using the Tasteful Trim die! You can get the FREE tutorial below!
I did not have floral tape for the stems, but I think that would make them look better and make it easier to keep the leaves on.

Occasions Mini Masculine Card

My Fathers birthday is tomorrow and here is the Masculine Card card I made for him. Most of these pieces you would use with more feminine types of cards, but I wanted to try making them for a guy card. I think it worked pretty well!
Almost everything used on this card is from the new Occasions Mini Catalog. For the bottom edge of the front of the card and next two layers, I used the Edgelits- Adorning Accents. I used the Sizzlits Large Paper Doily in Pacific Point card stock on top, and on top of that I have Dad stamped from the Loved Ones stamp set and cut out with the Framelits Labels Collection. The top banner is from the Take it to Heart stamp set. All of these are cut with the new thin metal dies that SU just came out with. They are amazing! Let alone really easy to store because they fit in an envelope!
I also used the Everyday Enchantment DSP from the upcoming Sale-a-Bration catalog (that will come out later this month!).
You can see that the top layers on the card use Dimensionals to make them really pop out. I think this really makes a card stand out more.

Little Teacup Crochet Doll

Happy New Year!
So, I promise that I will return to stamping soon, but I am having so much fun knitting and crocheting in the mean time! We had a great busy holiday with lots of traveling and celebrating and I am having trouble getting back focused on work.
I got the instructions to make this little doll off of the By Hook, By Hand Blog. (There are many different sized dolls on this blog, this was the teacup size, so Ashley named her Teacup!) Ashley loved her so much, we made some clothes for her too. I used larger weight yarn to make her then in the directions, so I free-handed the clothes to fit her (same for the hair).

This doll is so cute!!

This year I had a lot of fun making the Holiday Gifts for the kids teachers. We are truly blessed with an amazing school and wonderful teachers. I really can not say enough about them. We do gifts for the kids main teachers as well as the school nurse (my hero), the two ladies who run the front desk, Ashley's reading teacher and the principal.

About two weeks ago I taught myself how to knit and crochet so most of the gifts are done that way. I will link directions I found for them, however I am better at making things up on my own instead of actually following directions, so these patterns are not exactly what I made, just what I used to go by.

Here is the link for the Crochet Nurse mini doll. I did shorten the hair and make her body and dress a little bit longer. This one I followed pretty good since I am still just learning. I also attached a string to the top of her hat to hang her by and make her an ornament.

Jingle Bells Ornament

Here is the ornament that I made using the little Jingle Bells from the Holiday Mini Catalog! I also used the pearl beads from the old retired Pretties Kit, but you can use any type of beads between the bells.

Here is how I made this:

I used a small paper clip and straightened it out. I put the bells and pearls on it and bent the ends with a pliers to keep them on. Clip off the excess paper clip.

I unbent another paper clip and put it through the hole in the middle of the center jingle bell, and put the beads on both sides. I did this with another one also, three total. So you have one going through the top hole on the bell, and the other two go through the center slits.

I put a glue dot over the center to keep them all in.

Then I used a hot glue gun to put the flat pearls on the top and keep it all together good. If you don't have the Pretties Kit (retired) flat pearls, you can use the Jewels pearls in the main catalog and the Large Pearl Basic Jewels (upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog) for the center. Do this on both sides to keep everything together really well. Add your string and you are all finished!

Envelope Pull-Out Tab Album

Here is my Envelope Pull-Out Tab Album!

This project uses large and small square envelopes to make a great album for photos or journaling or many other uses! CD's will also fit into the large envelopes to make a great DVD, music or photo CD gift!
I have 24 photos in this album, and that is without using the small pull out tabs at all, with plenty of room left over for journaling! This is the perfect album to use when you just have way too many good photos of an occasion to fit on a scrapbook layout. It's also the perfect thing to give as a gift, especially with Christmas coming up!
You can add on as many extra pages as you want, if you want your album to be larger or smaller then the one shown. I have used Spice Cake DSP but you can easily use any pattern you would like. Album is approximately 5-1/2" square.

Lattice Fold Wreath Ornament

I had so much fun with my Lattice Fold Ornament, I just had to make one into a wreath! There are a few more directions below to change the Lattice Fold Ornament into the wreath, but check out the other post for the full directions.

You are going to fold the Lattice Die cut just like you did for the other ornament, then you are going to cut out the middle. I have shown below where you cut with the red lines. Do this after you have folded and glued the loops together to make it easier to assemble.

Once they are cut, you can put them together. The wreath only uses three lattice shapes so it pops up a little bit when they are all together. (The other one used four.)

Once they are together, fold back the outside ovals so the center bumps up, but the wreath lays flat. make a second one and glue it to the back to make them stronger and to be more 3-D.

You can color your Rhinestones with a permanent red marker right on the sheet and then put them on the wreath. Put your bow and string on. and you are ready to decorate the tree!

Lattice Fold Ornament

I saw the Fleur de Lis ornament tutoria l on Splitcoast by Becca Feeken and just had to change it around to work with the Lattice Die. I will show you a few steps below to make it work with the Lattice shape, but the rest you can get from the original tutorial for more help. This one took a little while to finish with all the scoring on the Simply Scored, but was really simple to do.
It is stunning in person!

Here is how to make one:

Using the Lattice Die on the Big Shot, you will need to cut out four shapes. Each one will be scored and folded the same way. Score like shown below. Cut to the center on the bottom side. Fold them up like shown on the right. The red lines are folded to the top.

Using the Two-way glue pen, stick together the center ovals like shown on the left. Then just stick your next one right to the edge oval and keep going with all four. I used the 2-1/2" Circle punch for the red circle in the back. This helps add some stability to it.

I used the Lace Ribbon and Striped Grosgrain for the back, and then just used Sticky Strip to add another circle to the back of that so you don't see it all glued together. Add a string and your ornament in finished!

I love this one! Hope you guys have the Lattice Die, because I have some more too! Check back soon.

Mommo's Birthday Card

After making my In-laws birthday Card, I knew I had to do one for my Mommo's birthday too. Here is hers!
The person is made the same way as the other card for all of the pieces. The table and chair are cut freehand. I used the Tote-ally Tess stamp set for the stamping tools on the table and the Happiest Birthday Wishes Hostess set for the banner. The hair looks gray in this picture, but its really brown on the card.
I thought this would make a great Christmas card to give your favorite SU Demo too!

Double Lattice Ornament

After I did my other Lattice Die ornament, I looked through Splitcoast for more ornament ideas. I not only found that someone else had already done the same thing I did, but I saw a great new way to layer the lattice shapes on the Sunshine, Smiles & Stamps blog. This made me think how nice it would look to combine these two ideas, and this ornament was the result!

I love it! The pictures really do not do this justice, it is gorgeous in person, especially when it spins.

Here is how you can make it:

Using the Big Shot, cut out your Lattice in two different colors. You are going to use the Two-Way glue pen and stick them on top of each other like shown. Then using the Simply Scored, you are going to score right down the middle in one direction and fold it in half.

Then you are going to glue them back to back just like you did for my Lattice Die ornament. I made eight of these total for the entire ornament.

Here it is with a red background so you can see the white better.

In-laws Birthday Card

Here is the card that I made for my In-laws birthday yesterday. They share a birthday as well as their sofa each night. My father-in-law watches TV and snoozes while my mother-in-law knits. I thought this card would be perfect for them! I am truly blessed with not only amazing parents, but in-laws as well!

Here is how I made them below!

For the main card I folded in half a 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of Not Quite Navy card stock. I cut the corners rounded at the top fold and sponged the edges and center. I freehand cut the top pieces and put it on top with Dimensionals. Make sure you sponge behind where the cushion hits so it pops out more.

So here is what your card base will look like after they are together. I also put shading with the marker and highlights with the white gel pen after.

For the punching of the people:
head- 1" circle
hair - 1-1/4" circle
torso - wide oval punch
hips - retired small oval punch
legs - retired small oval punch
feet - toe from stocking punch
arms - medium heart on heart-to-heart punch
remote control - top from the stocking punch
hands - large circle on the owl punch with a finger cut out
the footrest is just a rectangle with the corners rounded

for the knitting:
I used sticky strip and put it around the word window punch for the scarf, and then around the 1/2" circle for the ball of yarn. You really have to put the sticky strip on both sides and then just wrap it with the Bakers twine. The needles are cut freehand.

cat-
head - 1/2" circle
ears - mini heart from the owl punch
body - retired small oval punch

Just about every layer is put on with Dimensionals, so in person this card really pops out at you.

Mini Honeycomb Ornaments

I usually try to only do one post per day, so I don't run out of things to post... but with Christmas in less then a month, I think I have more project ideas then days!

So keep checking back often, I am on an ornament kick right now, so there might be multiple posts per day!

I have to send a thank you out to Ellen Williams for this great idea. After seeing the large Honeycomb Ornament that I posted this morning, she emailed me and suggested doing it with the ornament punch. I thought it would be too small, but I tried it and they came out so cute! You do have to put less glue dots on them, so you can see what I did below.

Tips for making these:

1. You can cut your 12" paper into 3-3/8" x 12" strips and punch both sides to get the most punched ornaments out of your DSP.
2. You can stack two punched shapes on top of each other and score them on the Simply Scored at the same time!
3. You want to make these out of DSP, not card stock. Card stock would be too thick I think, and you need the paper to bend.

4. Get a very sharp ended tweezers to put the glue dots on. It picks them up so easily and puts them down without sticking to the tweezers. You can get these in the beauty isle near makeup stuff. It is worth the investment in a good sharp pair instead of the dull $2 version.
5. Use Dotto removable adhesive to put your first folded shape down on your scrap paper, this makes them stay still and easier to stack.

For the first picture above, here is how I did the glue dots. I made this one simple and only did two spots. This was really easy and quick to do. I would suggest doing it this way if you are doing lots of them, or doing this with a group.
Once you put the one glue dot down, fold over the ornament and put the dot in the other spot and put the next one on top. I labeled my diagram with the colors of my DSP paper sides so I would not get confused. I did 13 of these shapes for this one.

Here is how I did the second one. One side has the two at either end, and the next side has it in the middle. Once you get this one together, you really have to manually bend the papers to get them to open up and it kind of folds them instead of just bending. Kind of a pain, so I would suggest the first way unless you have a lot more patience then me! I did 10 of these shapes for this one.

Hope you have fun with these, they are perfect for little trees!
They also fit perfectly in my 6 Pack Ornament Holder and make a great gift!

Honeycomb Ornament - FREE Template!

I saw the tutorial to make this ornament on Splitcoast and I just had to try it. I do not have the die they used, so I made a template for a similar shape.

You can get the FREE template and see the directions below!

I have listed the things I did that were different from the tutorial on Splitcoast, but you will need to check out the original tutorial for the full directions because I do not have pictures of each step. It is the Honeycomb Ornament Tutorial.

Each one of these shapes can be cut out of a 4" square of paper, so you get 9 out of one 12" sheet, and you need 18 cut shapes to make one ornament. So two pieces of DSP.

Once you have all of your shapes cut out, fold them all in half. Mark up the template like shown below for where you want to put your glue dots. I used hot glue to keep mine together, instead of a ton of glue dots and it worked pretty good.

This was a lot of work to do, but this ornament is gorgeous! When it spins and moves it really looks beautiful. I used the 1/8" Real Red ribbon going down the center and the old Pretties Kit beads for the bottom.

Lattice Die Tree Ornament

Here is my Christmas Ornament that I made using the Lattice Die with the Big Shot. This came out so gorgeous, the pictures really do not do it justice.
You can see how I made it below!

Cut out six Lattice shapes using Whisper White card stock and the Big Shot. You can cut out more, and I bet that would look even better. Fold each lattice shape in half like shown.

Once they are all folded in half, glue each half to the next one so you have a stack of lattice shapes, folded in half, stacked up. Then just take the two ends and glue them together.
I did use Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon down the center to make the hanging part, but that was the most difficult part of getting it together. I would suggest just attaching the hanging string at the top or using really thin ribbon to go down the center. Once you have that in, then you glue the last sides together. I used the Two-way glue pen for this and it worked great. I also used the retired Pretties Kit for the beads that I hung at the bottom, but you could use any beads.

Lego - Duplo Birthday Card

The kids got invited to a Lego Birthday party and I just had to make a card just for it! I saw THIS ONE on Splitcoast and loved it so much that I had to make it my own.
I have included all the details and measurements below on how I did it!

For the little top bumps on the Lego, I used the Word Window Punch cut in half. I used the Sahara Sand marker for the shading with the White Gel pen for highlights. To line this up evenly I used my SU Grid paper. Each square is 1/4". My top Daffodil Delight piece is 3-1/8" across x 2-1/2" folded in half.

The white insert is 2-1/4" x 2-1/2" and you just stick it on the inside of the top folded yellow piece and tape it closed.

The card base is 5" x 3-1/8" out of Pacific Point folded in half. I used Red sticky tape on the edges to keep it together. The red block on top is 1-1/4" x 3-1/8" with the bumps done the same way as the yellow ones. Stick this right on the front of the blue pouch.

I stamped with the Happiest Birthday Wishes Hostess stamp set in Pacific Point ink, and your card is ready to go together! Just like the Lego's!

For the Lego on the envelope I made it 3-1/8" x 1-1/2". The circles are from the large circle on the Owl Punch. I sponged the edges and added highlights with the gel pen. The name is from the Billboard strip die cut using the Big Shot.

My kids LOVE this card and so did Brett!
Here is Timmy playing with the Legos at the party and the Brett blowing out the Lego candles on the Lego cake! This was such a great theme for a party! This card would be perfect for invitations to your own!

Diabetes Donation Purse Tutorial

I know many of you have seen this purse before and made a donation, thank you so much to all of you!
For those of you that have never seen this, I made this project in honor of my daughter Ashley. My six year old daughter, Ashley, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes last year. She is an amazing kid and continues to impress us with her great attitude towards this disease, and she is doing great!

ALL proceeds from this project will now go towards JDRF in Ashleys' name through our ski event!
We are having our second annual Downhill for Diabetes ski/snowboard event on Sunday, February 26th 2012! It will be held at Pico Mountain Resort in Vermont.
All donations will go towards this event and will be donated to JDRF(Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).

The purses are approximately 7" across x 4 1/2" tall x 4" deep. They will easily fit many cards and envelopes inside and would be great to hold swaps!

I thank all of you who make a donation from the bottom of my heart. You are welcome to make a donation to this great cause even if you do not want the tutorial. So many people suffer from this disease and every penny donated gets them that much closer to finding a better way to handle the disease and hopefully find a future cure!

VW Bug - Bad Day Card

I was playing around on Splitcoast (and not doing was I was supposed to be working on) and found THIS CARD! It seemed like too much fun to not make a template for this card. This is totally my kind of humor. Since it amused me so much, I made the template FREE!

The main card base is Baja Breeze, and then I cut a top layer out of Real Red card stock for the front with the windshield cut out, and a second layer for the front hood. I sponged it with Cherry Cobbler ink.
The lights are a 3/4" Circles punched out of Silver and a 1/2" Circle out of So Saffron. I used the Under the Stars stamp set for the mosquito that hit the front windshield, and I used the Perfect Words Hostess stamp set for the license plate. The mirrors are using the Word Window Punch.

Candy Wrapper Box - Turkey

I know my projects have skipped ahead to Christmas already, but don't worry, I still have some great Thanksgiving stuff too!
I saw these great little Candy Wrapper die boxes HERE and just had to make some of my own! I thought a turkey would be perfect and of course I had to use the Spice Cake DSP from the Holiday Mini because I am totally obsessed with it.

Here is how I made this little box! I think I may have to have Thanksgiving at my house this year just so I can make these for each spot at the table. How cute would these be filled with little treats and holding names as place cards!?
Here is how I made them!

Cut out two Candy Wrapper Die pieces using the Big Shot. I did the body out of Soft Suede card stock. You are going to cut the end section off of both pieces. Put glue on the small tab on the side and stick them together. Then put glue on the other side tab and make the little box.

Once they are together, you can cut between the tabs on one side only. Fold them in and glue them together to form the bottom of your box.

Fold in the top pieces and put a ribbon though going in and out every square hole.

I used the 2-1/2" Circle Punch with Spice Cake DSP to make the turkey feathers. Arrange them like this on your paper and then put on glue and stick them on. I found this easier then putting them on one at a time.

The eyes are using the 3/4" and 1/2" circle punches and the mouth and red gobble are cut freehand using More Mustard and Cherry Cobbler card stock.

Owl Punch Pear Card

Here is my Owl Punch Pear card! It was really simple to do but I will break down what I used.
I used the Owl Punch with Wild Wasabi card stock to make the shape for the pear. I cut off the feet and the ears. For the inner one (Very Vanilla), I just cut the feet and ears off and then cut a little bit off around the edges of the shape to make it smaller. The center white is the 1/2" Circle cut in half and the seeds are Chocolate Chip using the Cupcake Punch, its the flame from the candle! The stems are using the bird punch. Just cut a branch in Chocolate Chip and other in Wasabi, cut the leaves off and glue the Wasabi ones on. Then just cut the top leaf in the shape of a stem. The words are using the Billboard strip with the Big Shot. (I love these alphabet strip dies, they come in so handy all the time!)
My husband was not a fan on my wording for this, and thought it should say, "What a Pear!" or something like that. But of course he mentioned this after I had glued them on! Usually I ask his opinion before I glue it together... oh well!
I thought this would make a cute anniversary or wedding card.

I used the the Scallop Trim Border and Corner Punches for the fancy rectangle the pears are on. Then I just used the Simply Scored to emboss the line going around it. You can get the dimensions for using the Scallop Trim Border and Corner Punches HERE to make them line up perfectly.

Slice O' Pumpkin Pie Box - FREE Template!

I wanted to make one of the cake/pie shaped boxes that you see all the time, so I decided to look for a template. I wasted so much time searching for a template that I liked, I gave up and decided to make my own! I saw a pumpkin pie in a food magazine and wanted to make one like it. I thought these would be so great as place settings or to put out for treats for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
My little box looked so yummy I made a real pumpkin pie for dessert tonight too!

Here is how you make your box:

For the pumpkin pie I used More Mustard card stock and ink. I cut the pie box shape out using the template and scored on the dashed lines. Before you put it together, you might want to sponge the edges, it makes it easier then doing it once its together. Put Tombow adhesive or sticky strip tape on the two tabs attached to the long rectangle section (on left). Glue these to the end triangle piece to form the main box. Do not glue the back, that will be how you get your treats in and out.

For the "crust" I used Soft Suede card stock and sponged the edges with River Rock ink (the suede ink makes it very dark). My piece was 2-3/4" x 3-1/4" and I scored it at 2". I then used the Scallop Edge punch on the top to make the crust more fun. The side edges (crust) of the pie I cut freehand using the template as a guide for size.

And you can't have pie without that nice dollop of whipped cream on the top, right?!

Here is how to make the whipped cream:

Cut out the flower looking shape using the template. Fold over four of the tabs, making sure you are leaving the larger tab(of the two ends of one tab/petal) on the top like shown on right.

Fold over the next tab, but tuck under the small petal on that tab. Then do the same to the last so they all tuck under each other.

Exploding Triangle Gift Box

I found this great little box and traced it back through blog land to the creator (I think!). The directions are on the With a Stamp and a Song blog and I love it!
I did make my own directions with pictures because I made my box larger because the other size seemed too small for me. I used the 25 & Counting stamp set and the Northern Frost Decorative Strip with the Bog Shot for the snowflakes.
I thought these would make the greatest Advent calendar gift boxes! You could use the 25 & Counting stamp set and make different little boxes for each day!
I have a feeling my kids are going to get spoiled this December...

See all of the details below!

Here is how you will fold your paper. The one that I saw uses a 6" square piece of paper but I found that made the boxes too small for my taste, and my gifts!
I used an 8-1/4" square piece of paper. With this you will score at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2" in both directions, then put the diagonal scores on.

Here is what your paper will look like once its scored and folded, I used Night of Navy. You will cut a 2-3/4" x 5-1/2" piece and score it down the middle. You attach this to one of the flat center pieces on your scored piece. This is the flap that keeps your box closed. (I changed my blue to white before I glued it on. The layer in Night of Navy is 2-1/2" x 5-1/2" folded in half that I layered on top of my white.)

You will fold like shown below to make the sides go together to make the box. You have to fiddle with it a bit to get them to match up and close. (No top flap on in this photo)

After doing this blue one, I had to use Velcro dots to keep it closed, so I changed around the top flap to keep itself closed. I used the 3/4" Circle punch in white and the 1/2" Circle punch in Cobbler. I put a dimensional on the back and punched a hole with the small hole on the Crop-a-dile and put through a Rhinestone brad. I used a few inches of the Cobbler Bakers twine and stuck it to the Dimensional. Do the same thing to the second one, only don't stick the twine in.

I made the top flap on this one 2-3/4" x 4-1/8" (in white) and scored it at 2-3/4. (The cobbler layer over it is 2-1/2" x 3-7/8" and scored at 2-5/8".) I put the circles in the top and bottom half of the front so all you have to do is wind the twine through them in a figure eight style and it keeps the top closed.

Simple and easy to close!

Santa Two Cupcake Box

I loved my Santa Wine Bottle Basket so much, I had just had to make my Two Cupcake Box dressed up as Santa too! I used the new Red Glimmer Paper to make this, and it is so gorgeous and sparkly. The pictures really do it no justice at all. I love this paper!
I used ribbon for the black belts and the large Scallop Circle punch for the tag with the 1-3/4" Circle Punched in the Red Glimmer Paper in the center. The belt buckles are made out of Gold card stock but it would be great out of the Silver Glimmer Paper too! The bottom white border I did with the Tasteful Trim die with the Big Shot and just trimmed some off of the bottom. You will want to use the Red sticky strip tape to put this glimmer paper together, I found nothing else really holds it in place.

Mitten Card- FREE Template!

I was getting ready for my stamp club class tonight, and decided to make a mitten card. Since I made the template for my ladies, I will share it with you too!

For the top, I cut a white strip that is 1-3/8" wide and about 4" long. I used the Scallop Edge Punch on both sides and then rounded the ends slightly by hand (on the full scallop). I made the holes with the Paper Piercer and then used the White Gel Pen to make the faux stitching.
The sentiment is from the Warmest of Wishes Hostess stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog. Then I embossed around it with the Designer Frames embossing folder with the Big Shot and cut that out by hand. I used Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White card stock and sponged with Crumb Cake ink.

Rectangle Door Card

I have had so much feedback about my other two door cards that I decided to make another one! Many of you told me you had trouble cutting the top curve of the door evenly, so I made a rectangle one for you!

The cardstock base for this card (as well as the other curved ones) is an 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece. You are going to score in on both 5-1/2" sides at 2-1/8" to get both doors to meet right in the middle.
The rectangle sizes for the bottom of the door are 1-1/8" x 1-5/8", 1-1/4" x 3/4" and 1" x 1/2". The rectangle sizes for the top of the door are 2-1/4" x 1-5/8", 1-1/4" x 1-7/8" and 1" x 1-5/8". These are on the template also, but just to make it a little easier for you.
I used Soft Suede card stock for this door and I just used the marker to get the woodgrain on it, drawing it freehand. You could also use the Woodgrain background stamp to do this.

Double Door Decorated for Christmas

Here is my Double Door card that I have decorated for Christmas with little wreaths. A long time ago I did a single door card but I like this one much more. I made this with a template which you can get for FREE by clicking on the door drawing below ! If you make one, email me the picture so I can see what you guys come up with!
I used the Christmas Lodge stamp set from the Holiday Mini for the sentiment on the inside. For the door I used Cherry Cobbler cardstock and just sponged some of the rectangles to make them darker. The wreaths are using the 1" Circle punch for the inside and then punch the Scallop circle out around it. The back layer is Always Artichoke and the front is Old Olive sponged a little. The bow is made out of 1/8" Real Red Taffeta Ribbon and the rhinestones are just colored red with a permanent marker. I used the Jewelry tag punch in So Saffron, cut in half for the door handle backs, and Glimmer Brads for the handles themselves.
The rectangle sizes for the bottom of the door are 1-1/8" x 1-5/8", 1-1/4" x 3/4" and 1" x 1/2". These are on the template also, but just to make it a little easier for you.

Here is what the door looks like undecorated. You can make decorations to go on your door for any holiday or occasion. Make a birthday sign or a skeleton for Halloween! Don't forget to send me the pictures if you come up with something good!

Halloween Class Card #3

Here is the third card that I did with my Halloween Card class earlier this week. I love cards that open different then the standard way. The pumpkins are punched using the Large Oval Punch and the small ones use the 1" Circle Punch. The grass on the bottom is using the Lace Ribbon Border Punch.

The main part of this card is 4-1/4" x 9-1/2", scored at 5-1/2".
The white piece is 3" x 6" and scored at 4".
I used Night of Navy, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White and Wild Wasabi card stock for this card, and sponged the pumpkins with Cajun Craze ink.

I got inspiration for this card from this great swap I got from Madeline Gardner, another one of the Green Mountain Stamper ladies from the group I am in. Her card is below.

Halloween Class Card #2

This is the second card that I did with my stamp ladies last night for our Halloween Card class. I used the large Scallop Circle Die with the Big Shot to cut it out, and then put it back through with the Spider Web embossing folder. I spritzed the card with Platinum Shimmer Paint mixed with alcohol in a spray bottle. You can't see it too good in this photo, but it is very shiny and makes the bats really stand out. Everything is out on with Dimensionals and I used the smallest size Pearls for the eyes. I really like how this card came out!

I got the inspiration for this card from this great swap I got from Rachael Ellison, one of the demos in the Green Mountain Stampers group that I am in. Her card is below, I love it!

Popped Punched Pumpkin

I am holding a Halloween Card Class at my house tonight, and this is one of the cards that we will be doing. We are making three cards, so make sure you check back to see all of them!
For each of the cards that my ladies are doing tonight, I got inspiration from another card. Here is the card that I saw that inspired this one. I thought the pop-out pumpkin was great, but wanted to make my own! I used the 2-1/2" Circle Punch and just punched out 5 pumpkins, folded them in half and taped them together. The card just folds flat on the front to mail in a normal envelope. The DSP that I used is Well Worn, I thought that goes pretty good with the Halloween theme.

Here are my Halloween Pop-Out Cards! These fold flat and fit in standard medium SU envelopes, but the recipient gets a surprise when they are opened!
I do have to say, these cards look pretty simple, but they took forever to figure out the dimensions to make them work properly! They do have a great "wow" factor when you open them! These are a favorite with my son.

Matching Skulls

A week or so ago, I posted this card above with the skull. My son, Timothy, got dressed this morning and put on his skull shirt and then saw the card in my bucket. (He likes to look through and pick out the ones he likes.) He got so excited that they matched, we just had to take pictures! Here he is below with his shirt and the card. I didn't even think of this shirt when I made it and they look exactly the same! I feel a scrapbook page coming on!

Fabric Cinderella Pumpkins

I saw a great site that has directions for these adorable Fabric Pumpkins! I thought these would be perfect to make using the Spice Cake Fabric. I did not give directions on my blog, since the other site has great ones, so check them out there!
I used circles ranging in diameter from 8" - 15". I used all three Spice Cake fabrics and just turned one inside out for the fourth different pumpkin. The photos really don't do these pumpkins justice, they are gorgeous in real life!

Faux Tile Technique

I did the Faux Tile technique on this card and I love how it came out! I have seen this technique a bunch of times but never tried it before. My Aunt passed away last week, and I made this card for her, even thought I can't send it to her. I think she would have liked it.

Now that we have the new Simply Scored tool, it's really easy to make this card! Here is how I did it.
I scored my Vanilla card stock at 1/2" intervals in both directions. I cut it 4" x 5" so it would be easy to do, then decided I wanted it smaller so just cut a little off each side to keep it centered.

After I scored it, I stamped the En Francais background stamp on it and sponged the edges lightly with Crumb Cake ink. You want to make sure when you stamp, you do it lightly so it doesn't show up in the score marks. Then I stamped the Inspired by Nature flower in Early Espresso ink. Once it was dry I used my VersaMark pad to lightly cover the top of the card and I embossed it with clear embossing powder. Add your sentiment from the You are Loved stamp set from the Holiday Mini and your pearls and you are finished!

Punch Art Skull with Framed Scalloped Border

Here is my punch art skull card! I used the Scallop Trim Punch to make a scalloped border around the Scallop Oval Frame die from the Big Shot! Wow, that's a mouthfull! You can use this technique to make a frame around any shape you want!

You can see how I did it all below!

For the bones I used the Modern Label Punch. I have layered it over a full one so you can see how I cut it. I slimmed down the long sides and just cut the center bumps off both ends.

The skull is using the Blossom Petals Punch, the largest blossom. You can see how I cut it here. I cut the nose and eyes out using a craft knife.

***I forgot to write it in the beginning, but this was my Mommo's idea to do the border this way!***

To make the border I punched a strip of white paper with the Scallop Trim Punch. Then I cut a slit almost all the way through at each bump in between the scallops. I used the center of the Scallop Oval Frame die for the center. I cheated a little here since I don't have the Web embossing folder yet, so I just used my stylus to score in the web. I lightly sponged it with White craft ink and then sprayed it with Platinum Shimmer Paint mixed with alcohol in a spray bottle. The web and shimmer do not show up well in the photos but they look great in real life!

Then just tape the ends of the scallop piece going around the oval so just the scallops stick out.

Where they meet when you come around, you can just cover with a bow or something if they don't match up exactly. I covered mine with my sentiment.

I have done other punch art skulls before, but this new one is by far my favorite! Here are some others below.

Fancy Favor Treat Broom

Here is my Fancy Favor Treat Broom! I used the Fancy Favor box die and the packing paper that comes with Stampin' Up shipments to make this little favor! These would be great to make with a class or for all the people that come to your next class filled with little treats! A great hostess gift too and so easy to make!
I saw the original idea on the Martha Stewart site using paper bags, but I thought the Fancy Favor die would be perfect for these!

Here is how I made this cute little witches broom favor:

Using the Big Shot and the Fancy Favor die, cut out two bags using the scrap paper that comes with the Stampin' Up shipments as packing material. If you do not have this, grocery bags or construction paper would also work ok. You do not want to use cardstock to do this, it will be too thick.

Tape the bottom of the boxes together. These do not need to be perfectly straight or have all of the scores folded. You are going to smush them around anyway.
Cut one of the bags in slits going almost to the bottom of the bag.

Put your treats in the uncut bag and put this is the center of the cut bag. Just smush the bottom to fit it in.
Use twine and tie up the top of the bag around a stick. Your bag is finished!

I used the Out on a Limb stamp set and the 2-1/2" Circle Punch to make the little tag for the top of the stick. I tied this on with more twine.

***POST UPDATED***
If you want to use the Fancy Favor box, but make the treat bag broom larger, here is how you do it!

Use one section of the paper packing material from the SU shipments and fold it in half the long way.

You are going to fold over in the middle of both layers of paper like shown. The fold needs to be on the top part of the Fancy Favor die, not over the scores to make the bottom tabs.

Put it through the Big Shot and you will get your two bags that are larger and can hold more treats. Follow all the rest of the steps above to make the broom!

Woven 12” Scrapbook Double Page Layouts

Here are my Three Woven 12” Scrapbook Double Page Layouts! I had so much doing my Three Cards and Box with this color scheme, that I just had to do some scrapbook pages too! I love this great Spice Cake Designer Series Paper from the 2011 Holiday Mini Catalog that I used to do these, but you could easily change the paper to anything and easily use this layout for any occasion! These would make great new baby or beautiful wedding page layouts!
The tutorial includes step-by-step photos and directions to do all of the weaving for the backgrounds as well as the punch art and stamping.

Swing-Out Fold Square Card

And here it is with the front swung out!

Here is my Swing-Out Fold Card that I came up with. It lays flat to mail but then the small front square swings out to stand it up for displaying! This is just like the other ones, only it is 4-1/4" square. This is a better size to make with a class because you can get two card bases out of a 8-1/2" x 11" sheet. I used the En Francais background stamp and the Ain't Love Grand hostess set to make this card.

You can see the directions to make the fold for this card HERE and/or HERE. The only difference is you start with a 4-1/4" x 10-1/4" sheet of paper. You are still going to score the card at 3", 4-1/2", and 6". Then you are going to cut 3" from the bottom over to that 6" score line. That will give you the 3" square on the left and the 4-1/4" square on the right.
If you are sick of these Swing-Out Fold cards, this is the last one for a while! I just had so much fun with them I couldn't help it!

Meeting Swap- Swing-Out Fold Card

I decided that for my swap card for my SU meeting this past weekend, that I would do my Swing-Out Fold Card. I saw this card and used it as inspiration for the stamping on mine! I used the Falling Leaves stamp set from the 2011 Holiday Mini Catalog to make this card and the Perfect Words hostess set for the sentiment.
I had to make 14 of these for swaps, and let me tell you, it took forever! I did simplify the cutting and scoring to make them, so here is how I did it below. This is probably a better way to make this if you are going to cut them for a class.
HERE is my other card like this if you want to see it.

Here is how I made this card!

First I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock. I cut a frame out of another piece of scrap paper and placed it over my Vanilla piece. I stamped and sponged with the frame down, and then when its lifts, you have clean edges. I used Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard and Early Espresso ink,

I cut a 3" x 6-1/2" piece of Early Espresso card stock and scored it at 3", 4-1/2" and 6". Put glue on the middle 1-1/2" section and fold it over.

You will now have the piece on the left. Then put glue on the small 1/2" section like shown.

This will glue behind the 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Espresso card base. Now you have your swing out arm that folds back to fit in the envelope!

Cut a 2-3/4" Vanilla square and stamp on it for the swing out section. Your card is finished!

To make a 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" finished card, you will need a 5-1/2" x 10-1/4" piece of card stock to start. You are going to score the card at 3", 4-1/2", and 6". Then you are going to cut 3" from the bottom over to that 6" score line. That will give you the 3" square on the left and the 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" piece on the right.

Now you are going to put glue or tape on the first 3" x 1-1/2" section like shown. Fold over the left 3" square and stick it down to that.

Now your card should look like this when you stand it up! The swing piece folds in flat to fit in the envelope.

This project contains the directions for TWO fun piano cards! I had so much fun making one of them, I just had to add the second!
One has pop-up keys when you open the card and the other is in the shape of a grand piano and holds a gift card! These would be great for birthday cards or to use as invitations for a party. You can also use them for any occasion for a music lover! Hope you have fun with them!
The grand piano is 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" and fits in a standard Medium Envelope. The Pop-up keys card fits in the Small Open End envelopes, and is approximately 6-1/2" x 3-1/4".

Sponging Technique Baby Card

I used the same technique that I used on my Bench Card on this card. For the floor on this one I used So Saffron and Crumb Cake ink to give it the look of pine flooring! I used the Baby Bundle stamp set for the stroller, and just drew in the third dimension of it to give it more of a 3-D realistic look.

I cased a card by Michelle Zindorf that was very similar to this one. Her stuff is amazing, and if you have never been to her blog you should check it out!

I changed around the colors and I added wood grain to my floor with the Crumb Cake marker. I love how the floor came out! I sponged it with Soft Suede and Crumb Cake and on the large wall I used Cherry Cobbler ink. The sentiment is from the You are Loved stamp set from the new 2011 Holiday Mini. The bench is from the Have a Seat stamp set.
Here is a close up of the floor! I used a ruler for the straight board lines and then just drew random wood patterns with the marker between.

Inspired by Nature Squares

I saw this card and loved it so much, I just had to make something like it. I didn't have the stamp she used, so I used Inspired by Nature instead. I used Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso to make this card. I love how the pearls dress up the card so much. The sentiment is from the Perfect Words Hostess stamp set. I almost want to enlarge this and frame it, it would be perfect for my bathroom!

The easy way to make the squares for this card is to stamp your image with Early Espresso ink on crumb cake card stock. Then I made this template so I could punch my squares out evenly so they will line up with the image that is stamped on the Very Vanilla below. You can make the space between the squares whatever you want, as long as it's even. Then you can match them up perfectly with the image below and everything is lined up!

Re-Using Old Projects

I made these two cards by reusing the backs from older projects! I really like how they came out. I have so much trouble throwing things out and sometimes I don't have a plan for all of the projects that I do. This was a great way to reuse them! ABC Punch Art Peekaboo Frame Book

SNAIL Mouse Treat Card

As promised... here is my SNAIL container mouse! I told you my husband came up with a second idea, besides the ghost, and here it is! I love this little guy and so do my kids, he is so cute!

Here are the directions for how I did these cards. I do not have the step by step for the mouse so here are the ghost directions. You can see more about the ghost card HERE.

I started with a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Basic Black cardstock and traced the top of the SNAIL tape container in the center. When you trace around the top of the container, it is slightly smaller then the base because it slants down. When you cut it out, just cut about 1/16" outside of your traced line.

You are going to put red sticky tape on the top of the lip of the plastic. you only need a few small strips to keep it on the paper. Now put your paper down over the plastic piece, just like you would over a treat cup.

On the back you are going to put sticky tape down the two long sides and one short side, the bottom. You are going to cut out a piece of paper that will slide in and out to open and get the candy out. This paper should be larger then the snail container opening, but fit inside the sticky tape on the edge. You can put a loop of ribbon on the top of this white piece so you can pull it in and out.

You are going to cut a hole in the front of your 8-1/2"x 5-1/2" card that is smaller then your white pull out piece. It does not need to be as big as I show here. It just needs to be large enough to get the candy out.

I cut a little skirt for the bottom of the ghost and filled the container with cut paper, but really it would be candy. Now when you pull on the ribbon, the back tab opens and you can put things in and out!

I have purposely left out dimensions for this because I just cut as I went to fit the size of the snail container. These do not need to be exact. Hope you have fun with it!

SNAIL Ghost - Stamp Clubs Third Card

Here is my ghost card that I did with my stamping club this week. We used the package from the SNAIL tape for the ghost shape! Mine is filled with paper here, but you would really fill it with candy or some other white treat! (White gumballs, yogurt covered raisins, mints or something like that.) There is a slide out pocket too, so the recipient of the card does not have to ruin it to get the treat out.

I have to give full credit to my wonderful husband for this idea. I knew I wanted to make something with the SNAIL container, but could not come up with something good. Some days I just have a creative block going on... he always comes up with something good! He came up with the ghost and another great idea. Check back soon to see what his second idea was!
Here is the inside showing the pull-out pocket. I will try to write up directions for this soon so keep checking! I forgot to take step-by-step pictures while I was doing it. Woops!

Second Stamp Club Card

Here is the second card that my stamping club ladies did last night. I used the Gently Falling stamp set from the new 2011 Holiday Mini Catalog and the Perfect Words Hostess set.

This card uses a 6-1/2" square card base folded in half to fit the small open end envelopes that SU has. I used Early Espresso, More Mustard, Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler ink for this card and Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler cardstock for it.
The small Vanilla squares are 2" x 2" and the Crumb Cake is 6-1/2" x 2-1/4"

Christmas Lodge Colored Snow

I used the Christmas Lodge stamp set from the new 2011 Holiday Mini Catalog to make this card. I love this set!
I stamped the lodge image on Crumb Cake cardstock with Early Espresso ink and then colored in the snow parts with the white gel pen. So simple and looks so nice! This is one of the cards that my stamp club ladies are doing tonight. Keep checking back to see the other two cards they will do!

Noah's Ark Thank You Card

Here is the card that I made using my Noah's Ark Gift Box and card set. I made this as a thank you for a neighbor that loaned us their sump pump to bail out our basement for Irene! We had 6 inches of water and gaining with 4 pumps going! However, after seeing the damage that was done to our little town, I can't complain at all. I am in Vermont, so the damage around here has been devastating. We are not one of the stranded towns, thank goodness, but we lost a lot here and right around us. Lot's of roads are closed so it's really hard to get anywhere.
It is getting better day by day but still unreal what some rain did. I thought this card was kind of a funny way to say thank you for the help!

Sweet Floral Layered

While I was at the SU Convention this year, I won the Sweet Floral background stamp that I made this card with. When I first got it, I thought it was the ugliest stamp that I had ever seen. A few other people saw it and said, "Oh, how pretty!" I figured if some people like it, maybe I could make a card that I like with it.
Here is my layered card using only this stamp and Perfect Words for the sentiment. I stamped the stamp a few times in Cherry Cobbler for the top and a few times in Always Artichoke for the leaves. Then I just cut some parts out and popped them up with Dimensionals, either one or two high.
I am still on the fence with liking this stamp but I really like how the card came out!

For the sentiment I just punched it out with the Modern Label punch. Then I punched two more in Cobbler, cut them in half going each way, and glued them to the back. This makes a nice outline around your words.

Simply Soft, Extended

I made this card using the Simply Soft hostess set. I used white satin ribbon and died it with the More Mustard ink refill and the Aqua Pen. Then I let it dry and scrunched it up on top of Sticky tape to get the bunched look on the card. I stamped two of these flower images right on top of each other to give me a longer looking flower then the single stamp. After I stamped the Mustard on the inside of the black outline, I colored the red and green and used Crystal Effects on the petals to make them stick out and shine. I used Pear Pizzazz, Very Vanilla, More Mustard and Cherry Cobbler for this card.

I used the Mini Silver Brads here and just colored them with a permanent red marker! Then I put them through 1/4" circles and then onto the card. I really like how this came out. The silver just didn't go with the card, but the red looks great! I also took the edge of my Very Vanilla paper and just wiped it across the Cobbler ink a few times on all of the edges and put it on with Dimensionals. This really made it pop out from the card nicely.

Gently Falling Three Cards & Box

Here is my three card class with a matching box, using the new Gently Falling stamp set and Spice Cake Designer Series Paper and Buttons from the new 2011 Holiday Mini. This mini officially starts for customers on September first, so this is a little sneak peak of the products! For Demonstrators, we have already been able to pre-order and get these products, so here are some great things to make with them and show your customers for when they can get them!
You can easily switch up the colors and stamps for this project and make it for any occasion. I thought pastels with a baby stamp set would be perfect for this layout!

Card Party Cards

I have already showed you the hostess gift that I made for this party but here is the card that I demonstrated there and the card that they did.

This card uses The Open Sea stamp set and the Top Note die with the Big Shot. I used VersaMark ink for the globe and chart stamp on white paper in back and clear embossed it. Then I sponged with Night of Navy ink on top. In person you can see the images are shiny and it looks really nice.

This is the card that they did at the party. We used the Just Believe stamp set and the background uses the Very Vintage roller. I tried to keep it simple since there were lots of first timers.

Simply Soft, Sponged

I used the hostess set Simply Soft to make this card. When I first got this set I wasn't sure what to do with it but I really like it now!
The colors I used on this card are Soft Suede, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, More mustard and Very Vanilla. The piece of DSP that you see is the new Spice Cake DSP that is in the 2011 Holiday Mini Catalog that most of the SU demos have already. If you are not a demo, you have to wait until September 1st when this catalog officially starts to get this great new paper, sorry! One of the many great reasons to be a demo is you get to pre-order a month ahead of time from the new catalogs and we get to see the catalogs even earlier then that! I also used Crystal Effects over the flowers to make them glow. I even did an inside to this card! I think this makes the card seem so more more sophisticated, it's like getting two cards in one! I sponged the Ribbon very lightly with Soft Suede ink so it matched the tone of the card. Without that it seemed too bright to fit. For the edges of the inside and outside I sponged them with More Mustard ink first and then went around the very edges with Soft Suede to give a deeper look.

August Club Cards

For my Stamp Club this month I seemed to run out of time so I actually searched on blogs for card ideas! I did find some great cards and didn't even change them too much. Here are the cards we did and where I got the inspiration from!

I found this card on Splitcoast and just changed it a bit. I can not find the creators real name on there, but you can see her great card HERE! I got this Sweet Floral background stamp at Convention as a prize and could not think of a thing to do with it. Thank goodness for other blogs to get inspiration from!

This card is inspired by Nancy Ferb (almost copied exactly so I guess that's not really inspired by...). I love how she uses the new Grow stamp from Convention with the Just Believe stamp set! I did not have the new brads for the bottom so I just punched a piece of paper and used Crystal Effects on it.

And the last card idea I got from Karen Colburn. This one uses The Open Sea stamp set from the Summer Mini. I love the tearing of the two layers of DSP and so did all of my ladies!

Thanks for the great card ideas ladies so I didn't have to think too much!

Strength and Hope Hostess Gift

I thought I would share the little gift that I made for the hostess of my last party.
I used the Strength and Hope stamp set with Melon Mambo, Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Very Vanilla cardstock and ink. I made nine little 3"x3" cards with envelopes and put them in a decorated Fancy favor box. I put this in a cello bag and finished it with a ribbon!

Origami Kissing Card

I have been trying to come up with a fun way to use the S.W.A.K. stamp that I got as a prize at Convention. I was thinking to make an origami kissing card and I found this great video (below) on You Tube to make one. I thought the S.W.A.K. lips would be perfect to put on the envelope to seal it shut! The video is pretty good to follow as long as you pause after each step and then go on.

You really have to make this card, especially if you have kids. It is so much fun to play with and make it talk. It is so realistic!

Caramel Apple Card -FREE Template

I was asked to come up with a template for a Caramel Apple Card, so here it is! I really had a lot of fun with this!

I used Cherry Cobbler cardstock for the main card and sponged the edges. I used More Mustard for the caramel part and sponged with More Mustard ink. The center is Very Vanilla and the stick is So Saffron (5" x 5/8" strip with top edges rounded) and they are both sponged with More Mustard very lightly on the edges. I used the Chocolate chip marker to draw the seeds in the center and put Crystal Effects over them. I used the white gel pen for highlights on the front. I glued the top of the caramel onto the apple card base but I used Dimensionals for the bottom to make the drips pop out.

Tires & Treads FREE MDS Punches

I have been having so much fun converting the stamps from My Digital Studio into punches that I decided to try and make some of my own punches! I just used clip art from the Internet and made them into punches! These five images below I am calling Tires & Treads. You can see the page I made with them above!

The link below should let you download the punches in the right format for MDS punches. Copy these files to your desktop first. Then you have to copy and paste them into your punches folder. If you copy them directly into your punches folder for some reason they will not work.

12"x12" Mini Book

I got this book idea from a mini book that they made on the Alaska cruise (I think) that a fellow demo showed me. I made this in a class with my my kids and nieces and they all loved doing them! They are aged 4-10 and then 4 adults also. It was easy enough for everyone! I thought this would make the cutest little scrapbook or just a little book to draw in.

The directions to make it are below!

For the pages of the book you need one sheet of 12" x 12" cardstock. You are going to score it in one directions at 2", 6" and 10". Score in the other direction at 3", 6" and 9". Then you are going to cut along the red line I have shown going through the center of three of the sections.

Now you are going to fold up the two inch sections all the way across. These are the pockets that will hold the removable pages.

Now fold in half on the center score. You can accordion fold the end strips to make the pages.

Fold these on both sides. This will give you all of your pages. You are going to tape the backs of the pages together where the three red arrows are shown pointing.

Now all of your pages are together and you are ready to decorate. This is all from just one sheet of 12" x 12" paper!

You will need a 4"x4" piece of DSP to tape to the back of the end pages to make the front and back cover. The insert pages are 3-3/4" x 2-1/2". You need 8 of them. The belly band is 1" x 8-1/2".

Then just decorate however you would like and you are finished! I used The Open Sea stamp set from the Summer Mini catalog with matching DSP.

MDS Converting stamps to punches

So I have seen lots of ways to convert My Digital Studio stamps to punches, but I thought I would write up some of my own directions since I was so proud of myself for figuring it out!
Ok, here goes... this is how I converted My Digital Studio stamps to punches and then filled them with photos to get these pages!

First you have to download the free Inkscape program from the Internet. This is a good program for lots of things and I have never heard of anyone with any problems downloading it.

After you download it, open Inkscape and you have to go to File (at the top menu), then choose Import. Import any stamp of your choice, I used the Noteworthy alphabet for the first page and the Holiday Blitz flip flops for the second page. Below is a screen shot of the letter after I imported it in Inkscape. (So proud of myself for figuring out this screen shot thing and getting it into my blog post no less!! Hooray for me!)

(You can find your MDS stamp files by going on your computer to your program files, then choose My Digital Studio. Then click on the components folder, then punches.)

Once your stamp is imported, click on it to select it, and you will see the selection handles around it. Then go to Path at the top menu bar and then choose Trace bitmap.

A new box will open up and you want to hit update and then OK. Once you hit OK, you should see your image in this box. (If you do not, you have to make sure your imported image is selected) Now you can close this little window with the red X at the top right of it.

Now go to File (top menu bar) and then Document Properties. When this box opens you will see Custom size towards the bottom. I have the size set to 148 x 158 mm for the letters but you can try any size until it fits right around the edge of your letter. This makes the page size smaller so when you save your new letter file (or any stamp image), there is not a ton of space around it when you select it.
***If there is lots of space around the image on the page, when you bring your new punch file into MDS, the selection handles for it will be way outside of the actual shape and make it very difficult to edit.

Now go to File and then Save as. When you save your file you want to save it as a Plain SVG, not an Inkscape SVG. Save it right onto your desktop. You are finished with Inkscape for this letter.

Now open the folder that contains the punched images from MDS, the same way you got to it before. You are going to right click on the new svg. file that is saved on your desktop and choose copy. Now put your cursor over the punches file, where ever you want it saved in. I saved all mine in the Extras folder withing the MDS punches folder. Then right click and choose paste. A box will come up telling you this is locked and you want to choose continue. Your new punch is now in the MDS program!

Now open up MDS and choose punches on the right menu and add a punch. When you go to Extras (or whatever file you saved it into) you should see your new punch there! Choose your new punch!
Once you have the punch shown on your page, it will come in very large. Just double click on it and a box will open. Change the height to 3" (or whatever height you want it) and then close the box.

Click on the new punch and choose paper fill on the options in the menu on the right. Choose any type of designer series paper you want. (If you want to fill the punch with a photo, you still do this step but it will not matter which paper you choose since you are going to replace it with a photo.) If you only wanted DSP filled letters, then you are all finished!
If you want to fill it with a photo, like I did with the sandals above, then double click on the letter after it has the DSP in it. A window will open and you want to choose replace image. Pick a picture that you have saved on your computer and choose it. It will now show up in the punch! You can move it around on that screen and place it how you want and then hit OK. It is now replaced in your project with a photo in the shape of your punch!

I am very good at coming up with projects but I was very proud of myself for figuring out how to do this on the computer!! This is not my strong point!

Airplane Punch Art Card - FREE Tutorial

As promised I made another card with my little punch art airplane and took better photos so I could show you how I did it! I also used the Word Play stamp set for the sentiment and the cupcake punch for the clouds. I'm not so fond of the rest of this card but I love the airplanes!

Below is my Clothesline Thank You Card that I did before with my little airplane.

And here is how I made the airplane:

I used the large oval punch with Cajun Craze cardstock and trimmed the sides like shown for the body of the airplane.

Then I punched a Word Window shape and cut it in half at an angle. I slightly rounded the end of the front wing piece to look like the wing at an angle. Glue one if front and one in back at the same angle.

Punch another word window and cut a smaller shape from one half. This will be the tail of the plane. Glue it at the same angle as the wings.

Then I cut a tiny shape from the other side and it was the little tail fin thingy... (not sure of the names for these parts!) That goes right on the end.

Then punch a Black Word Window and put it back in the punch to trim it about in half. I cut the propeller out of this. Just angle in from the ends and then cut the little circle in the middle. You could also cut two teardrop shapes and a circle and put it together that way. The end of the word window is the little cockpit area.

And here is the finished little airplane! I added some marker to the bottom and edges to give it some depth.
